HDC Media chooses Twipe as digital publishing platform

Leuven, March 19, 2013
HDC Media, one of the largest publishers of regional newspapers in the Netherlands and part of the ‘Telegraaf Media Groep’ (TMG), chooses Twipe as its platform to publish their digital newspapers. The regional dailies of HDC Media are the most important suppliers of regional news. The dailies and news websites of HDC Media reach on average about 1.5 million consumers and a little less than 1 million households in Nord-Holland, South-Holland and Flevoland. For Twipe this is an important expansion of its digital publishing platform.

Future proof choice
“Our decision for Twipe is mainly based on their future-oriented NextGen HTML5 Tablet technology” explains Jeroen Meersma, responsible for Strategy and Marketing. “We recognize more and more readers require an adapted reading experience on their mobile devices and this technology allows to do this in a cost-efficient way.” The implementation on the Twipe platform will occur in several phases during the coming months.

More than 1.000.000 downloads per month
Twipe is a Leuven-based start-up specialized in the digital distribution of newspapers and magazines. Earlier, apps of De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad, Metro, Humo and NRC Handelsblad were developed on Twipe its platform. At this moment more than 1.000.000 digital downloads of newspapers and magazines per month are processed by Twipe, and this volume increases every month.
