My Internship with the Twipe Artificial Intelligence Team

My name is Gilles Gruwez and I am a Mathematical Engineering student at the Catholic University of Leuven. This summer, I’ve had the opportunity to do an internship for two months in the AI team at Twipe where I focused on EngageReaders.

EngageReaders is a product that collects and analyzes data of newspaper readers to gain valuable business insights into the reader’s behaviour and tries to leverage these insights into making various predictions.

Working at Twipe has many advantages. First of all, Twipe provides a positive atmosphere with experienced and talented individuals. The lean and agile mentality results in a fast and challenging environment where you can work on different projects at once.

For example, the various projects I’ve worked on, ranging from software engineering to data science:

  1. Migrating an entire codebase from Python 2 to Python 3
  2. Developing unit and integration tests
  3. Automating Jupyter notebooks
  4. Querying my own data, creating notebooks, and doing my own data analyses
  5. AWS exploratory projects
  6. Writing a blog post

For me, Twipe was the ideal mix between a start-up and a larger company. Small enough for you to work on different projects but large enough so that you can get acquainted with a proper engineering pipeline. The time between having an idea and implementing it can be incredibly quick. Even as an intern, I felt that my ideas were always taken into consideration.

An internship at Twipe means more than another line on your resumé. You will be getting a project that clients rely upon and that has real-world implications. And if you position yourself correctly, you truly can make a differentiating impact on this company. For these reasons I strongly encourage all motivated and talented students to apply for an internship at Twipe.
