Fried Plantain Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe plantains (the skin should be yellow and it should be a bit soft, not too soft)
- Vegetable oil
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Peel the plantains by cutting off both ends and making a lengthwise slit along the skin. Gently remove the skin.
- Slice the plantains into rounds or diagonally into ½-inch thick slices, depending on your preference.
- Pour about ½ inch of vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat it over medium heat. The oil is ready when it shimmers, or you can test it by dropping a small piece of plantain into the oil (it should sizzle).
- Carefully place the plantain slices in the hot oil in a single layer, leaving space between each piece.
- Fry for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Use tongs or a slotted spoon to flip them.
You can also use an air fryer. You should use 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil to coat the plantains so that they are not too dry.
