At Twipe we fundamentally believe in the power of editions, which is why all of our research and innovation is focused on the edition concept.

Last year we took on the challenge of running a research project to better understand how publishers can succeed with the edition concept in today’s digital world. We released our findings in the first chapter of our Reinventing Digital Editions series, where we highlighted 8 successful digital-only editions.

In the second phase of our multi-year research project, we examine the motivation and habits of nearly 4,000 readers of digital news in six European countries and the United States. From surveys and interviews with participants in Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the US, we find general news habits and attitudes towards paying.

Our key finding is that half of all readers prefer to read digital news in an edition format.

We look forward to continuing our research on successful digital formats for news, if you have any questions, comments, or ideas, please get in touch!
