Twipe Releases the First Smartphone-Optimized Newspaper App

Twipe is proud to announce today the release of NextGen.Phone, the first newspaper app fully optimized for the smartphone.

“I am really proud that today our newspaper takes the lead in what I believe to be the future of newspapers. 4 years ago, presenting our newspaper as PDF on tablets felt like a real revelation. Our mobile optimised newspaper on smartphones gives me an identical feeling,” explains Ivo Vandekerckhove, Editor-in-Chief of Het Belang van Limburg.

Together with Mediahuis, we have been working hard during the past months to find a solution to present their newspaper on mobile phones. As a result, Het Belang van Limburg (HBVL) launches today its new mobile optimized newspaper on the Twipe NextGen platform.

“We are finally able to offer our customers the finest reading experience directly on their smartphone. But most remarkably, this new solution doesn’t require any extra work from us to prepare the newspaper for the phone,” says Wim Staelens, Digital Manager at Mediahuis.

Within the NextGen.Phone apps, no more pinching and zooming are required. With 15 different smart templates integrated in Twipe`s NextGen Solution, the app is now available on all iOS and Android smartphones.

“We believe we have cracked the tough nut of presenting an entire newspaper on a smartphone with an awesome mobile user experience: a publication with a beginning and an end, clear navigation and hierarchy and easy-to-read.
