Zeitung Digital 2015, one of the most important industry events in Germany, started today with some extremely interesting sessions. Focused on the latest trends in Germany, the different sessions were dedicated to different themes from paid content and customer focus to change management and start-ups.

Here we summarized the top trends in Germany for you:

  1. Innovation – seems to be the word of the day. Rubin Ritter, member of the Management Board of Zalando, started the day by talking about how to stop living in constant fear of the next disruption and centre your attention and resources towards innovation instead. The key takeaways should definitely be the fact that 75% of the 700 Zalando engineers are working on innovation and that they still perceive themselves as a start-up, which only means that they never stop learning, because they never stop starting. “The only way to do it is to do it!”
  2. Mobile – the urge of going mobile is bigger and bigger. Or it should be if you want to keep your customers. But developing a web page to which you add mobile capabilities is not a mobile strategy. If you are taking into account the user experience, focus on the relevance of your content and invest in innovation – then you´ve got the perfect recipe for the perfect mobile app.
  3. Monetizing Digital Media The good news is that people are still willing to pay, but if you want to succeed, you must take a closer look at your customers, offer them premium content, develop new payment methods and innovate all the time. And don’t forget: “Mobile changes the buying patterns and innovation is the key to success”
