Twipe wins Lion of the Export 2022 Award

Last night, during an exclusive awards show, Twipe was awarded the Lion of the Export 2022 Award. The award is granted every year by Flanders Investment & Trade to companies that have achieved outstanding results in exporting goods and services from Flanders. Twipe has received the Award in the category Small Companies, with up to 49 employees.

Twipe receives the Lion of the Export 2022 Award from the Flemish Minister-President Jan Jambon.

Innovation at the core of Twipe’s international growth

The 12-member jury congratulated Twipe on its impressive international expansion in recent years. With more than 92% of its revenue generated internationally, Twipe is a true champion of export. Twipe’s digital news media innovations help leading international news publishers transform their businesses in the digital age. Major international publishers like Le Monde, The Telegraph, Ouest-France and the Daily Mail are now using Twipe technology to serve their readers every day. More than 1 million digital editions are read through Twipe’s technology.

“In ten years’ time, Twipe managed to carve itself a market niche with the major international news brands. The Flemish Brabant tech player’s innovative spirit and determination to become a fully-fledged knowledge partner for those of its customers going through a digital transformation also contributed to winning over the jury.”

Joy Donné, CEO of Flanders Investment & Trade

Twipe has followed a gradual international expansion, starting in The Netherlands and further expanding into neighbouring European countries. One of the key innovations which sparked our international expansion was the co-development of DS Avond together with De Standaard, now owned by Mediahuis. This innovation was at the source of a large partnership with Ouest-France, the largest French newspaper publisher. This resulted in the co-creation of L’édition du Soir, one of the largest digital-only news editions in Europe.

Technology & Thought Leadership, a role model for other young tech companies

Besides developing innovative products in digital news distribution, analytics, and personalised newsletters, Twipe has invested early on in Thought Leadership. Through weekly blogposts, regular webinars, research reports, and our annual Digital Growth Summit, Twipe has helped shape the vision of many publishers and helped them formulate strategies and actions to thrive in an ever more complex digital world. This unique recipe of Technology & Thought Leadership can be an inspiring example for other young tech companies with global growth ambitions.

This Award is a great recognition for the hard work of our Twipees during the past years. They are our true Lions of the Export and make the difference for our customers every day.
